Curriculum intent
Our BTEC child development curriculum has been designed to incorporate taught, written and practical lessons where pupils plan, develop and adapt play opportunities suitable for children from birth to five years, across five areas of development.
Pupils will gain experience and develop their individual knowledge and understanding in a range of child development topics, such as growth and development from birth to five years, how children learn through play and how meeting the needs of individual children will support their development, play and learning. Studying BTEC Child Development gives students an insight into the excitement, considerations and responsibility enveloping the development of children. It encourages vital life skills such as literacy, organisation, analysing, presentation and evaluation.
This subject has links to other subjects – science, maths, PE, food, psychology and English.
