All preferences expressed will be considered equally. If the number of children requiring admission does not exceed the school’s published admission number, all the children will be offered admission.
School admissions for September 2025
The local authority is responsible for allocating places to Philips High School and this section provides further information on the admissions process.
To be able to apply for a place in a Bury school, you must be resident in Bury. If you live outside Bury, you must apply through your home authority.
The deadline for applying for a secondary school place for September 2025 is 31 October 2024. If you apply after this date, it can severely reduce your chances of obtaining a place at our school.

School appeals
If your child is not offered a place at their chosen high school, you can appeal against that decision to an independent appeal panel. You can learn more about how to do this on the Bury Council website here.
